What if you just don’t know

Part of our success in our work lives comes from our ability to think ahead and plan. We know where we’re going. Often we’re the leaders, the ones with the strategic plans, the ones who have the long view. We know how to figure ways to avoid dangers and distractions. We know our goals and how to achieve them.

In crossing this threshold from all of the knowns of our lives into these next years, no matter our best and most cleverly thought out plans, sooner or later we will be in the land of the complete unknown. How do we even dream up our next adventures when so very much is unknown to us?

The poet David Whyte says, “Everyone has a relationship with the fearful unknown.”

What’s your relationship with the unknown?
